1 dead, 2 injured after early-morning wreck in Prince George Co.

PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (WRIC) — One person was killed and two others were injured after a single-vehicle accident in Prince George County early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. in the 4600 block of Ruffin Road. Police say the vehicle overturned after it ran off the road and struck a culvert.

The driver, 25-year-old Jesse Tomlin of Virginia Beach, was transported by helicopter to VCU Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. 19-year-old Donna Broadnax of Hopewell was transported to Southside Regional Medical Center. 26-year-old Shawn Hambleton of Hopewell died at the scene.

Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

At this time, no charges have been filed.

The crash remains under investigation.
