RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We have one more cool night on tap for the area before the heat turns right back on for us in Central Virginia. Skies will be clear over the area with overnight lows headed into the upper 40s to around 50 for most of us.
Friday starts out with mostly sunny skies and then will turn partly cloudy. Highs will be a little milder as we head back into the mid to upper 70s.
This weekend is the first ever “split” commencement at UVA (both Saturday and Sunday on the lawn) and it is going to be warm for all of the new Wahoo Alumni!. The weekend will be partly cloudy and hot as highs climb into the mid 80s on Saturday and into the upper 80s to near 90 on Sunday. Saturday there is a risk of an isolated thunderstorm up in the mountains then then a risk for everyone on Sunday.
Monday will also be hot with highs in the mid 80s to around 90. Scattered showers and thunderstorm will be possible on Monday and then also on Tuesday when a cold front is due to pass by.
This system which will produce severe weather in the Midwest over the weekend will be much tamer by the time it arrives here. Behind the system, cooler weather will be on the way in for us when we get to the middle of next week in the area.
