Richmond Police searching for person of interest in fatal Midlothian Turnpike shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man shown in the above photo and video.

Police say he is a person of interest in regard’s to a homicide that occurred last week outside of a Family Dollar on Midlothian Turnpike.

At approximately 3 p.m. last Thursday, May 7, officers were called to the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike for the report of a shooting. In a parking lot they found Sylvester Nichols, 24, of the 6300 block of Glenway Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The person of interest is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and  wearing a red t-shirt and red shorts.
