Police apprehend Franklin Co. woman after suspicious death of 3-year-old

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC | WSLS) — Deputies in Franklin County, Virginia, apprehended a person of interest Tuesday afternoon as they investigate what they’ve called a ‘suspicious death’ of a three-year-old.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office told 8News sister station WSLS that they found Hope Mcvey Perdue (pictured above), who fled the scene of the home on foot around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, in a garage after receiving a tip late Thursday afternoon.


Perduefled from a house located in the 7000 block of Old Franklin Turnpike. Police had been searching for Purdue all day after a three year old in her care had been found dead.

Virginia State Police have been assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, as well as multiple K-9 units.
