RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Normal boarding procedures are continuing at Richmond International Airport after a security breach happened earlier Tuesday.
Airport spokesman Troy Bell tells 8News that boarding was delayed for about an hour on Tuesday around 1 p.m. after a concession employee allowed a passenger to bypass a security checkpoint.
Passengers at eight gates around the airport had to go through boarding procedures and repeat security checks.
Airport police now have both the concession employee and the passenger in custody and they’re being questioned.
The delay may have affected passengers with short connection times at other airports, Bell said.
