RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Commonwealth University will pay Will Wade a base salary of $450,000 per year and will add supplemental income totaling $550,000 per year, according to a copy of the contract released Thursday.
The term of the contract is five years and is set to expire in April of 2020.
On top of that compensation, Wade can earn additional bonuses for thinks like winning the Atlantic 10 Tournament ($10,000), winning 20 games in a season ($20,000), and taking VCU back to the Final Four ($100,000).
Wade will also receive bonuses based on academic achievements. For example, he will receive $4,000 for each player that graduates by the summer of his last year of eligibility.
