Elderly woman attacked by neighbor’s pit bull in Prince George Co.

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An elderly woman in Prince George County was attacked by her neighbor’s pit bull while at her mail box, police say.

Police said the incident occurred in the 3600 block of Heritage Road.

The victim, whose identification is not being released at this time, sustained bites to the hands and head before she was able to escape inside her home and call 9-1-1. She was transported by ambulance to John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell for treatment. Her condition is unknown.

The owner of the dog was identified as Lydia Gordon of the 3600 block of Heritage Road. She is being charged with having a dog running at large, no county license and failure to obtain rabies shot.

The dog is currently being quarantined by Prince George County Animals Services for the required 10 days for bit confinement.

Further charges are possible as the investigation is ongoing.
