A newborn jaguar cub was spotted playing with his mother inside their cave exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. The cute romp was caught on camera, too.
The cub’s mom, Nindiri, gave birth to the boy cub late last month. The boy is the third baby for 7-year-old mama Nindiri.
Visitors who want to see the newborn may spot the mom and cub during Play Days. The zoo says it’s not just fun and games. Nindiri teaches the cub spatial reasoning skills and helps him develop his muscles during playtime, according to 8News affiliate KABC.
The jaguar is an endangered species. It’s estimated that there are about 10,000 jaguars left in the wild, but their numbers are decreasing rapidly.
