Groundbreaking for Midlothian Wegmans kicks off Tuesday

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) – Tuesday morning, crews will break ground for the brand-new Wegmans at Stonehenge Village on Midlothian Turnpike.

The new 120,000-square foot store will anchor the shopping center and is expected to open next spring. It will be the very first Wegmans in the Richmond region.

The store is expected to employ up to 600 people. Last August, the Henrico County Board of Supervisors approved Wegmans to build a store on West Broad Street near North Gayton Road in the Short Pump area.

Construction of the Chesterfield Wegmans location is estimated to take a year.
Wegmans currently has one location in Fredericksburg and five locations in Northern Virginia: Fairfax, Gainesville, Leesburg, Sterling and Woodbridge. Wegmans Food Markett, Inc. is also planning to open a location in Charlottesville.
