CSX employee struck by train, killed Wednesday morning

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Railway corporation CSX confirms to 8News that an employee was fatally injured at Acca Yard in Richmond on Wednesday morning.

Police say that on Wednesday around 2:56 a.m., officers were called to the 2100 block of Westwood Avenue for an ‘industrial accident.’ An adult male was struck by a train while at work

An identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.

CSX says that they are providing support to co-workers of the employee.

“CSX conveys our deepest condolences to the worker’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the company said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our employees is a top priority for CSX, and CSX is working with authorities to fully investigate this incident.”

The incident is currently under investigation by the Henrico County Police Division, CSX Railroad Police, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.
