600 people evacuated Tuesday after gas leak in downtown Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A gas leak forced hundreds to evacuate an area in downtown Richmond Tuesday.

Officials tell 8News that a contractor struck a gas line at 106 North 8th Street and Franklin Street.

600 people were evacuated and have since been let back in as the gas line is now shut off.

The area has been evacuated and there were no injuries reported.
