Students re-enter Tuckahoe Elementary after evacuation Thursday due to foul smell

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Tuckahoe Elementary was evacuated Thursday for around an hour as fire crews investigated a foul smell in the building.

Students were evacuated around 10 a.m., Henrico County Public Schools spokesperson Andy Jenks tells 8News. Students and staff headed across the street to a church as they waited for firefighters to arrive.

Firefighters responded to the school to investigate, but the odor had already dissipated.

Authorities are still investigating. They believe the smell may have been something equipment-related.
