Heroic pooch rescues two from rip current in California

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were rescued from being stuck in a rip current in California recently, and they have a dog to thank.

The two got caught in the current while swimming at a beach in Ventura. They yelled for help, and that’s when the the heroic pooch, Nico, splashed in and dragged the man and woman back to safety.

The grateful swimmers asked if Nico, a Bernese mountain dog, was trained as a rescue owners. His owners said no, adding that they’ve never seen him do anything like that before.
