CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Hundreds gathered for a vigil Sunday for Elijah ‘Buck’ Ball, the teen killed after being shot in Caroline County on Saturday night.
Ball, a 16-year-old student at Caroline County High School, was shot and killed Saturday outside of a YMCA facility. Police say that preliminary investigation reveals that the two juveniles involved did not like each other, which lead to the violent attack.
A 15-year-old male was arrested and charged with homicide and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection to the case. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and was transported to a juvenile facility.
Ball’s family was in attendance at Sunday’s vigil. The teen’s father called for an end to violence.
“The senseless violence. The my area is better than your area. It’s all one area, it’s all God’s world. This is temporary for us. It stops tonight,” Elijah Ball III said.
School officials say that they’ve arranged for extra personnel from the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office to be present at the high school on Monday to assist with the tragedy.
“Please know that our thoughts and prayers go out to the families involved in this terrible tragedy,” Killough said.
