PORTLAND, Ore. (WRIC) — VCU is hoping to duplicate the Pirate’s success in their first game against Ohio State University.

The Rams tip off tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. in Portland, Oregon. That’s where 8Sports Director Mitch Carr is in Portland, keeping up with how the team is preparing for the Buckeyes.

The team made it to town just after 9 p.m. (PDT) last night. Mitch says the team headed straight inside the hotel — they need their rest.

Today, the Rams are going to get to check out the venue where the second and third round action takes place at the Moda Center, formerly known as the Rose Garden.

Coach Shaka Smart, along with the rest of the team, will meet with the media around 1:30 p.m. (PDT) and then they will head out for practice just after 2 p.m.

The Peppas, VCU’s pep band, are also in town. We’re trying to chase them down sometime today.

The Rams will not be alone at the Moda Center this afternoon. We’ll be there, too! Mitch will be in Portland with the Rams all week. We also have 8Sports reporter Chip Brierre heading down to Charlotte, N.C. to cover UVa. basketball.
