HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — Vandals armed with spray paint caused some disturbing damage in Henrico County.
They painted a swastika on a stop sign and covered mailboxes and street signs in red paint.
Henrico County Police say vandals hit nearly 30 times with most of the damage along Charles City Road, in the southeastern part of the county.
The vandals attacked Freddie Davis’ fence, breaking it and painting it red.
“This is really surprising to me, for real. It makes me a little frustrated, yeah, a little because I don’t know what’s going on with it why it was done,” says Davis.
“Of course it makes you angry, “ said exasperated neighbor Richard Bowery. “That’s hard earned money out of your pocket, you know why wouldn’t you be angry?”
Despite three spray painted swastikas, police are not investigating what happened as a hate crime.
They say at this point, it looks more like vandals up to no good.
Folks who live in the area suspect kids are behind the costly damage.
“It’s just stupid stuff, you know? It’s got to be a kid. A grownup is not going to do nothing like that,” adds
Investigators encourage homeowners who were vandalized to file a police report.
Once caught, the suspects could be forced to pay for the damage.
