RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — VCU’s men’s basketball team may be all the way across the country, but folks back here at home are gearing up for Thursday’s 4:40 tip off.
At the VCU bookstore, we found people who were shopping for VCU apparel.
“I am working tomorrow, yes ma’am, but I can wear these underneath my scrubs,” says Erin Sed, a VCU alum who was at the store buying a shirt.
A very hot commodity is the A-10 Championship shirts. People have been calling the book store to see if they’ve arrived, but folks will have to wait until Thursday, around noon; that’s when the shirts are expected to arrive.
“The shirts are $24.95,” Stephen Barr told 8news anchor Ava-joye Burnett. “They can pick one up and they can put it on right here and they can show their Ram spirit as they walk out the door,” he says.
There will also be several watch parties around town. Chili’s on W. Cary Street will be the official spot for undergraduates. The restaurant will have a $5 burger, freebies and even a black and gold burger.
“We are bringing in a huge wait staff, a lot of bartenders and hosts and everything, so we will be ready to take care of you guys,” says Aaron Morgan, who works at the Cary Street location of Chili’s.
Home Team Grill has brought in a tent for March Madness! The restaurant will be the official location for the alumni watch party.
“Get here a little bit early, the real estate is going to go quick. The sooner you get here the more likely you are to have that choice seat,” says Andre DeGenna, with the restaurant.
