One of two sisters in GRTC stabbing due in court Wednesday for sentencing

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One of two sisters charged with stabbing a woman on a GRTC bus could learn her fate on Wednesday.

Jonae Cox could be sentenced today after pleading no contest to a malicious wounding charged in January.

Her sister, Shamia Cox pleaded guilty in the same case and was sentenced to 12 months in jail.

Back in July 2014, several witnesses told 8News that the sisters were outside the bus at Broad and Bowe Streets arguing with a woman inside. That’s when witnesses say the sisters hopped on the bus with a knife and stabbed a young woman multiple times. The victim survived the attack.

We’ll bring you updates from the courthouse.
