CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va (WRIC) — One man was killed Tuesday night and two others were injured after a two vehicle crash in Chesterfield County.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:38 p.m., on Route 150 northbound at Jahnke Road.
Authorities say that a 2004 Jeep Cherokee pulling a trailer was traveling north on Route 150 when the trailer became disconnected. The Jeep stopped in the left travel lane and the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and walked to the rear of the jeep to reconnect the trailer. There were no emergency flashers activated on the jeep.
A 2005 Chrysler van traveling northbound struck the Jeep that was sitting in the travel lane, knocking the driver of the Jeep onto the left shoulder and pinning the passenger.
The passenger of the jeep, 56-year-old Mason L. Hitt III of Henrico County, died at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep, 53-year-old Steve Farag of Henrico, and the driver of the Chrysler van, 58-year-old Audrey Trimied of Chesterfield County, were transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Virginia State Police are still investigating the crash.
