A California man tried a creative approach when it came to escaping the police. He spray painted his face black “in an effort to camouflage himself,” a Madera Police Department spokesman told ABC News.
Unfortunately for him the “camouflage was ineffective,” the spokesman said.
Police arrested Jose Espinoza, 23, on Saturday night and he is facing charges of possession of stolen property and theft of a vehicle, the spokesman said.
Espinoza escaped the first time police showed up at his house, but he was successfully captured when he later returned to his home and was allegedly seen with black spray paint all on his face.
Espinoza’s alleged spray paint bottle has been turned over as evidence.
He was placed into Madera County Jail early Sunday, according to jail’s records.
A court date for Espinoza is unknown and it is unclear if he has a lawyer.
