HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — Five years ago this month, a violent crime stunned a quiet Glen Allen neighborhood. Police are still on the hunt for the person responsible.
Gunfire in Twin Hickory is extremely rare… But on the evening of March 11, 2010, someone armed with a rifle opened fire on a home in the 4900 block of Park Meadows Lane.
The bullet pierced a kitchen window then hit the homeowner in the face. 53-year-old Terry Nero survived.
“You know it’s been a long five years. He had very significant injuries and I’m sure the emotional trauma still goes on every day,” explains Lt. Chris Eley of Henrico County Police. There’s the constant pain of not knowing who shot him or why.
Police say they’ve exhausted all leads and need the public’s help with this investigation. Nero himself even created a website in the hopes of motivating someone to come forward with information.
There were reports of a blue Ford Taurus parked on that road, but no one can confirm it was the getaway vehicle. Detectives hope all of these details will spark the memory of someone who saw or heard something that night. They would like justice for the victim.
“If we could bring at least bring some closure to this case, it would help him a lot and I think it would help the community also,” says Lt. Eley.
