CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Nine students have been charged after a fight broke out at Matoaca High School on Thursday.
Police say that around 12:30 p.m. on March 12, a fight began after a juvenile male student hit another juvenile male student. Authorities say that’s when several other students got involved in the incident.
No one sustained serious injury and there is no indication a knife was displayed during the fight.
Police say that three 16-year-old male students were charged with both assault and disorderly conduct. Four other students, a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old female and two 17-year-old males, were charged with disorderly conduct only and two students, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, were charged with assault only.
Police say that the school had increased security present on Friday, but school went smoothly.
