RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The case against a man charged with shooting a Richmond Police officer was continued Friday morning.
20-year-old Tamar Harris is facing charges including attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer.
Today’s appearance was for a status hearing.
The case was continued until May 21 so that a mental evaluation can be done. Those results will be reported in the May hearing.
Harris is accused of shooting veteran Officer William Turner on January 2.
Officer Turner was responding to a call for a man in emotional distress on Fulton Street when the shots were fired. Turner was able to fire back at Harris. Both of them were injured.
The last time this case was in court, we learned the Commonwealth will be requesting a jury for the trial.
