Public tips lead to arrest in Church Hill stabbing

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond police say tips provided by alert citizens helped them make a quick arrest in a stabbing incident that occurred Thursday in Church Hill.

33-year-old Charles Lewis, a resident of the 600 block of North 32nd Street, has been charged with aggravated assault. He is accused of using an unidentified sharp object to stab a female employee at the home shortly before 1 a.m.

The victim was transported to VCU Medical with multiple non-life threatening injuries.

Lewis was taken into custody in the 2900 block of North Boulevard roughly three hours after the attack. Officers were called to that location by several people who dialed 9-1-1 after noticing blood on Lewis’ clothing.
