NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The driver of a 15-seat passenger bus was killed in an accident that closed all lanes of Interstate 64 West on Friday morning.
The single-vehicle crash occurred on the off-ramp of exit 220 in New Kent County shortly after 9:30 a.m.
Virginia State Police say the bus was traveling on I-64 West when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver of the bus has been identified as 62-year-old Paul R. Clewis of Newport News. He was the only occupant on the bus.
All lanes of I-64 westbound were closed as crews cleaned up. The ramp from I-64 west to Route 33 was also shutdown.
The roadway and ramp are now open and delays have since cleared.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
