RALEIGH, N.C. (WRIC) — North Carolina authorities have arrested a man who is believed to be the person seen on video sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.
Yesterday we reported that investigators with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) were looking for a white male about 40-50 years old with a medium to heavy build in connection to the video.
Last night, William Towner Akers, 46, was arrested and is being held without bond on federal charges, according to our sister station in Raleigh, WNCN.
ICE officials said Akers was arrested at Lulu Press on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh thanks to a tip from the public. According to his Linkedin profile, Akers was a development and operations director at Lulu.com.
Investigators believe Akers is the man seen in at least one of the pornographic films seized from the home of Bailey Mills, a Sanford man convicted of multiple sex offenses involving children. In the video, the man, believed to be Akers, is seen sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl.
Mills was arrested in January 2014 after deputies received a tip that he contacted a 12-year-old girl on Facebook about paying her for sex.
