WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRIC) — One person was shot and killed by a police officer in Washington D.C. Thursday night.
The shooting occurred after Metro Transit Police responded to a report of an unauthorized person in one of the metro’s tunnels, according to 8News affiliate WJLA.
The Potomac Avenue station in Southeast D.C. was shut down as firefighters removed the body from the tracks inside the tunnel, about 400 feet east of the station. Service of the Orange, Blue and Silver lines was also disrupted, WJLA reports.
The suspect was fatally wounded in the shooting. No officers were hurt in the incident.
