Petersburg Business Vandalism Caught on Surveillance

Workers at Lucky Pizza in Petersburg came in to work Monday morning to find shattered glass everywhere. Just hours before, around 5:45 a.m., a suspect was caught on surveillance video smashing windows. The suspect could be seen walking around the restaurant, then using what looks like a rake, and smashing the windows. It’s believed that the suspect also shattered the windshield to three delivery cars.

The restaurant is located in the 1400 block of W. Wythe Street. Not only is it going to cost the business about $5,000 to get all of the damage repaired, but when customers show up and see the damage, they don’t want to go inside.”

“A lot of people, when they walk in and see the store in that type of situation, caution tape, stuff like that, they kind of get scared,” Mohmed Salama, the manager at the restaurant, told 8news anchor Ava-joye Burnett.

The surveillance video is a key piece of evidence that could help police catch the suspect, but they’re also depending on residents for tips.

“You may have information that we don’t have. Sometimes they think we know everything in a situation and we may not. So we want to encourage people to help us help them,” says Esther Hyatt, the spokesperson for the Petersburg Police Department.
