NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – An 18-year-old man wanted for the shooting death of a transgender woman last November has surrendered to police.

Mallory Porter surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon. He was wanted for the murder of Gilbert Fowler.

Fowler, 24, was found shot to death on the morning of Nov. 12 beside his Buick Lacrosse in the driveway of an unoccupied home in the 3900 block of Lunn Drive in the Bordeaux area north of Nashville.

A review of Fowler’s phone records revealed that he had traveled to the area to meet an individual, which the forensic evidence shows was Porter.

Detectives strongly believe Porter lied about his involvement when he was interviewed about the murder during the course of the investigation.

Porter will be charged criminal homicide.
