Weather, Speed Both Factors in Fatal Henrico Accident

HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — A Manassas man died yesterday afternoon in Henrico after the van he was driving ran off the road and struck a tree.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on I-295 southbound at the 46 mile marker in Henrico.

An investigation by Virginia State Police revealed that a 2006 Ford Econoline was traveling at a speed deemed unsafe for road conditions when it ran off the road and into a tree.

The driver of the van has been identified as 26-year-old Juan W. Fores Orellana of Manassas. He was transported to MCV hospital where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

There were three passengers in the car who were also transported to MCV with non-life threatening injuries. None of the four passengers were wearing seat belts.

Both weather and speed appear to be factors in the crash, according to VSP.
