CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County Police have arrested two people and are looking for a third person in connection to the brutal death of Adel Elmadany who was found dead inside his dealership back in January.
“The whole community has been affected because he was a person who was well known and liked and active in the community,” said friend Ammar Amonette.
The 60-year-old was strangled and suffocated with a plastic bag. Police have arrested 24-year-old Melvin Vasquez, 25-year-old Lemus Mendoza, and are still looking for 56-year-old Arshad Mahmood in connection to Elmadany’s brutal murder.
Amonette says his family continues to struggle.
“Obviously his wife and family have gone through a really rough period but they’re strong, strong people, and people of faith.”
Police have not said what led them to the suspects and are not saying what the motive of the murder was or who hired these men to kill Elmadany. They say they are still investigating and need to find Mahmood, who is considered armed and dangerous, to get the answers they’re looking for.
Meanwhile friends still can’t believe someone was hired to kill him.
“When that happens to people you know, that’s difficult for people,” said Amonette.
But Amonette says he’s thankful for the work that police did in finding those responsible.
“They really have made an effort and shown real seriousness in tracking down whoever is responsible.”
If you see Mahmood you are asked not to approach him and to call police.
