The Twitter account for the Johannesburg, South Africa branch of the non-profit had a tweet with an ad that takes a different spin on the dress. Last week, people around the world debated whether the dress was white and gold or black and blue. The Salvation Army took the opportunity to start a conversation about abuse, asking, “Why is it so hard to see black and blue?”
Twitter has spread the message, leading to the Twitter handle trending in different countries. The Salvation Army ad raised awareness about domestic abuse against women.
