RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A missing Norfolk teenager may have been spotted on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, police said Thursday.
Authorities stress that the sighting of 18-year-old Anjelica “AJ” Hadsell Wednesday on the school’s campus has yet to be confirmed, 8News affiliate WVEC 13 News reports.
VCU Police tell 8News that they were contacted by Norfolk Police. Since then, officers have placed missing persons fliers around the school’s campus, in residence halls and have checked all log books where visitors at
Hadsell was last seen around 7:00 a.m. on March 2 at her family’s home in the Tarrallton neighborhood of Norfolk. She was last heard from via text Tuesday morning around 5:30 a.m. Her parents reported her missing around 9:15 that night.
Anjelica’s mother, Jennifer Hadsell is desperate to find her daughter. The Longwood University freshman was home for Spring Break. Her mom says something just doesn’t seem right.
At this point, police say there is no indication of any foul play, but they are actively searching for her.
“The conversation in my opinion was kind of off. I can’t be 100 percent sure I know that was my daughter I was texting. I know how she talks and I know the type of things she says,” Hadsell told WVEC.
The teen’s friends have been coming in and out of her home and passing out missing flyers in the neighborhood. They say it’s very unusual for Anjelica to just disappear.
“This is not Anjelica. We all know her, we know how she would act and this is out of character,” Anjelica’s longtime friend Andre Barr said..
