RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The fog is very dense this morning as warmer air is trying to move over our snow covered ground. The fog will be very thick for the morning commute and possibly last until 10 a.m. before burning off.
We will see mainly cloudy skies throughout the day with highs in the upper 40’s. Clouds will begin to break apart tonight with lows in the upper 20’s.
We might see some early sunshine on Tuesday but clouds will quickly increase. During the early afternoon, rain and sleet will begin and slowly change to all rain by Tuesday evening. There might be some icy spots later Tuesday afternoon, so be mindful of that.
Rain will be with us Wednesday and it will be mild with highs in the lower 60’s. This rain will be ahead of a cold front, which will slide into and through the region later Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. As it slides in, cold air will mix with a developing area of low pressure, which will bring us a rain-snow mix possibly changing to all snow by Thursday morning.
Historically, we do not see significant accumulations on systems that “change-over” in Richmond, so we will have to continue to see if this breaks the trend.
Sunny skies will return for Friday and Saturday with highs in the middle 30’s on Friday and climbing into the middle 40’s by Saturday.
Sunday looks to be partly sunny with highs in the middle 50’s.
