RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Just a few hours after the snow ended, Richmond crews were already working to clear neighborhood streets.
This is a major improvement from the last snow storm and residents noticed.
“It looks like they did a great job, absolutely,” says Alexander Dahm who lives in the city.
“This one seems to have cleared up more quickly, this one is better for running,” added Terry Price.
Just last week, it was a different story. In some spots, there was a layer of snow and ice for days. Crews were not able to treat the roads because the chemicals don’t work when temperatures are colder than 20 degrees.
Just hours after the storm, crews have already cleared main roads and are now focusing on the neighborhoods.
“We try to get the job done as quickly as we can. Of course when we’re battling mother nature, we can only do so much but fortunately she is working with us this time,” says Sharon North with the city’s Department of Public Works.
The department expects to get to all the streets in the city by the weekend.
