HOPEWELL, Va (WRIC) – Hopewell Police responded to their first shooting of the year on Sunday.
Police say that around 2:21 a.m., officers responded to the 4000 Block of Oaklawn Boulevard for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two victims who suffered from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
The adult victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and the 17-year-old juvenile victim refused medical treatment at the scene for a graze wound. The adult victim is from Petersburg, and the 17-year-old juvenile victim is from Hopewell.
Both victims are being uncooperative with the investigation, police say.
This appears to be a drive-by shooting
Police say that their investigation concluded there was no vehicle or suspect information at this time, but they believe the shooting was a drive-by.
The investigation is ongoing.
