Friends Remember Kindness, Generosity During Funeral For Strangled Chesterfield Business Owner

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police still don’t know who killed Chesterfield business owner Adel El Madany, but tonight we know how he died.

Sometime Friday night or Saturday morning, police say someone killed El Madany at his auto dealership on Turner Road. According to the medical examiner, the 60-year-old was strangled and suffocated with a plastic bag over his head.

Police are being tight-lipped about the investigation, releasing almost no details.

His funeral was held Wednesday and brought together more than 400 people. Members of the Muslim community are still stunned by his sudden, violent death.

“He was the kindest, nicest person in the community,” said a friend of El Madany, Bashir Chughtai.

Added Fathy El Kattan, “This is a shame and I hope the community will get together soon and try to put that guy who did it in justice.”

El Madany leaves behind a son who’s in the Army, a daughter and a widow.

He also leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity.

“You’d go to his business, even if he doesn’t know you, you won’t leave without eating and drinking,” said another friend, Ahmed Soliman. “He was just friendly and generous.”
