Fire at Mondelez (Nabisco) Factory In Henrico

HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) – Firefighters were on scene at the Henrico Nabisco factory overnight.

Fire crews responded to 6002 South Laburnum Ave for the report of a structure fire at the Mondelez (Nabisco) Factory at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday. First arriving units arrived within 5 minutes and reported fire from the roof of the factory. Inside the factory, fire crews found fire in an oven on the second floor and a vent stack leading to the roof.

Fire crews continued to the roof and found fire in the roof structure around the vent stack.

The fire was marked under control at 8:58 p.m. and all employees were able to get out of the structure on their own.

Because of the quick stop of the fire, only a portion of the factory is expected to be out of service a short period of time. About half of the factory was able to return to work after the fire was marked under control.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
