RVA Bike Boulevard Project In Jeopardy After Committee Vote

A Richmond committee voted against a proposed bike boulevard project for the city’s Fan District Thursday afternoon.

The Urban Design Committee voted 7 – 2 against the Floyd Avenue project, proposed to create a bike and pedestrian-friendly boulevard between Thompson Street and Monroe Park.

The committee vote is not the final say – the Richmond Planning Commission is set to vote on the proposed project later this month.

The project proposal includes traffic circles at 10 intersections along Floyd Avenue, meant to slow traffic and reduce the overall number of passenger vehicles, making the area safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.
