Donation Fund Set Up For Richmond Police Officer William Turner

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Virginia Fire Police Credit Union has confirmed that a fund has been started for Richmond Police Officer William Turner, who was shot in the line of duty last Friday.

The credit union says they’ll start accepting donations Friday.

Make sure to reference Officer William Turner’s name with the donation.

Richmond Police tell us that Officer Turner was responding at an address near Fulton last Friday in the 4400 block of Old Denny Roadfor a “mental health” check. The suspect, 20-year-old Tamar X. Harris, opened fire at Officer Turner, who then returned fire.

Harris is charged with malicious shooting and using a gun in the commission of a felony in connection to the shooting.

Officer Turner was in critical condition but remains stable. VCU Medical Center says that as of last night, Harris is in good condition.
