Blacksburg, VA — Andy Bitter at the Roanoke Times reported Monday that Virginia Tech has inked Defensive Coordinator Bud Foster to a five-year extension that will pay him in the neighborhood of $900,000 per year.
Foster did not confirm the extension, but he did not deny it either, saying, “I like where I am right now with what’s going on. I think there will be some things coming out here in the next few days. We’re working on some things. I’m flattered that they’re working to keep this thing going the way it is.”
Foster has been the defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech since 1995, and he has been on Frank Beamer’s staff since 1987. He was already the highest paid assistant in the nation, and this extension only increases the margin by which that is the case.
