HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Police are searching for a gunman after 12 bullets were fired into a Hopewell home Thursday night.
8News reporter Ava-joye Burnett spoke to the homeowner, a Hopewell teacher, who says she went ducking for cover when she realized what was happening.
“I realized something had hit the house, the curtains started moving,” the homeowner said. “I realized it wasn’t a rock or anything, it was actually bullets coming through. ”
The victim says she was in the living room plugging in the wireless internet on the floor when the bullets were being fired into the home.
“It could have been five minutes earlier, five minutes later, I would have been sitting on the couch, right in the line of fire. The bullet literally went in straight through where I would be sitting,” she said. “It’s a miracle… that’s truly divine intervention.”
Police believe the shooting is a case of mistaken identity. The gunman probably meant to target a different house on the block.47 57 00
“I figured it had to be something, the wrong address, something else had to be going on,” the frightened homeowner said. “I wasn’t the target, and that helps.”
