A Walmart employee dipped into her own pocket recently to help a customer afford his groceries.
Jenny Karpen was a new cashier at a Walmart in upstate New York. One day when she was working, an elderly man came through her line. The man did not have enough money, though, to pay for the food he was purchasing for himself and his pet.
“And he was like, ‘Is it enough?'” Karpen told News 10 in Albany. “And I was like, ‘No, it’s not.’ So he was trying to take stuff back.”
That’s when Karpen reached into her purse and grabbed $40 of her own money to help the man pay the bill.
The next person in line saw what Karpen did and in turn, offered her own money. Karpen declined.
Karpen’s manager wishes there were more people in the world like her.
“We just need to clone Jenny,” Jamie Cobb told News 10. “We need to have Jenny’s one through 10.”
