LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) –Two men suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Louisa Thursday morning. One of the vehicles was carrying 77,000 pounds of gravel.
The crash took place on Chopping Road (Route 623) around 10:55 a.m. A 2004 Ford box truck was traveling south on the roadway when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a northbound 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer.
The Peterbilt was carrying 77,000 pounds of gravel; none spilled onto the roadway and no hazardous materials were leaked.
The Ford’s driver, 21-year-old Bruce T. Martin of Louisa, and the Peterbilt’s driver, 37-year-old Adam C. Wilkins of Woodford were both taken to UVA Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
Martin was charged with failure to stay right of the center.
