Broadcast/ IT Engineer

Seeking qualified broadcast engineer/IT person. Must have experience and/or thorough working knowledge of IT systems and operations plus good knowledge of broadcast systems. The Broadcast/IT engineer needs to be able to work in both IT and Broadcasting environments as needed for day to day operations. Familiarity with Broadcast systems is a plus. WRIC-TV8 is looking for a Weekend Anchor/Reporter who brings energy, warmth, confidence and credibility to the anchor desk. The ideal candidate has the ability to think on the fly and handle breaking news. The anchor/reporter must have high journalistic standards and a passion for news. Strong writing skills are essential. We are looking for someone who can report live with confidence. Understand the value of using pictures, natural sound and graphics to illustrate a story. Build sources, generate story ideas and participate in editorial meetings. Meet deadlines under pressure. Must be a good communicator and work well with others. News Photojournalist/Editor

WRIC-TV8 is looking for a News Photojournalist/Editor who is organized, enthusiastic and passionate about great storytelling. The ideal candidate must display creativity, attention to detail, and understand the value of capturing compelling video and sound. Must be able to edit pictures to words and tell a story. No wallpaper video. Must be able to make quick decisions under pressure and meet deadlines. Communicate effectively with the public and co-workers. The successful candidate must be able to master Edius editing system and shooting on Panasonic P2. Be willing to work overtime and work flexible shifts. A minimum of 3 years experience is required. Account Executive
WRIC-TV8, the ABC affiliate in Richmond, VA is looking for a dynamic, career-minded Account Executive to join our professional sales team. Qualified candidate must be highly motivated self-starter, organized and have strong presentation skills. Digital Content Producer
WRIC-TV8 is looking for an internet-savvy journalist to be our next Digital Content Producer. The ideal candidate must be a news junkie with high journalistic standards and sound news judgment. This person understands how people utilize social media to find news and information that’s important to them. The successful candidate knows how to write digital content that drives engagement on our social media platforms, as well as traffic to our website. Must be a strong writer, able to work well with our digital content team as well as independently, juggle multiple assignments at once and meet deadlines under pressure. The Digital Content Producer will be responsible for making sound editorial decisions and publishing quality content in a timely manner. Must be a good communicator and work well with the entire newsroom. Must be flexible with regard to their schedule; some nights, weekends and holiday shifts will be required. Required skills/knowledge: Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and PowerPoint), working knowledge of HTML, Flash and Photoshop, excellent internet research and usage skills, and general digital savvy. Previous experience with digital video, blogging and social aggregate/monitoring tools (TweetDeck, Social News Desk, HootSuite, etc.) is highly desired. 2-4 years of newsroom experience (television, print or digital) or equivalent required. Internship Opportunities
We only offer internships to college students who need the internship for a grade or course.
Deadline for Fall internships: July 10th.
Deadline for Spring internships: November 28th.
Deadline for Summer internships: April 4th.
The following is needed for internship consideration:
–One-page paper, double-spaced explaining why the student wants this internship and what they hope to learn.  Include the department/career of interest such as news (producing, photography, reporting), production, sports, graphics, weather; and specify the semester needed (Fall, Spring or Summer).
–Confirmation email from an advisor, dean or registrar’s office saying the internship is needed for the student’s grade/course.  Include how many credit hours are needed.  (This varies with each student and school.)
**Without all three documents, student will not be considered for an internship**
