Digital Account Executive
WRIC 8News in Richmond VA is seeking a Digital Account Executive to sell comprehensive media solutions to achieve sales targets and maximize revenues. Responsibilities include: Identify, develop, and expand existing and new client relationships & key accounts. Maintain close communications at various stages in the sales cycle including account updates, weekly projections & forecasting of future advertising. Research target markets and trends, and adjusts sales strategy accordingly. Ensure clear understanding and interpretation of client needs, and recommend appropriate solutions, in order to meet requirements. Develop short and long range plans for revenue growth. Negotiate advertising rates, create oral & written presentations; generate packages. Monitor accounts receivables. Research, analyze and monitor competitive media for new leads A valid driver’s license is required.

WRIC 8News is looking for a full-time Business Administrator. Strong accounting and human resource background, and excellent computer skills are required. Responsibilities include preparation/review of monthly financial statements, annual operating budgets and all accounting functions including G/L, A/P, credit & collections, and fixed assets as well as day-to day human resources functions. Will supervise building maintenance and security. Four years of accounting experience, preferably in the broadcast industry. Must have proven analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities with tight deadlines. Strong oral/written communication skills, demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to interact with all levels and functional areas, and proven negotiation skills, both internal and external to organization. The perfect candidate will supervise the production, writing and execution of daily newscasts with a heavy focus on showcasing and storytelling. This person is a big picture thinker with strong news judgment and great ideas. Proficient in writing conversational broadcast news copy under deadline. Oversee story selection and able to approve and copy edit scripts, teases and graphics. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and strong organization skills. A minimum of 5 years newsroom experience is preferred. Motion Graphics Designer
WRIC 8News is looking for a skilled and visionary motion graphic artist to lead the look of 8News and its associated productions on Richmond, Virginia’s ABC station. Motivation, enthusiasm and creativity are expected. Minimum 3 years’ experience required as a designer for television or production house graphics as well as proven professional abilities in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. The successful candidate will produce motion and still graphics for broadcast, print and web use. Additional skills in Premiere and/or some knowledge of C4D, Chyron, web/app graphic design preferred. The following is needed for internship consideration:
–One-page paper, double-spaced explaining why the student wants this internship and what they hope to learn. Include the department/career of interest such as news (producing, photography, reporting), production, sports, graphics, weather; and specify the semester needed (Fall, Spring or Summer).
–Confirmation email from an advisor, dean or registrar’s office saying the internship is needed for the student’s grade/course. Include how many credit hours are needed. (This varies with each student and school.)
