Henrico Police have arrested a suspect for arson after crews put out a fire in a bedroom.
Henrico County Division of Fire units responded to the 800 block of Nine Mile Rd in Henrico County’s East End this evening for the report of a house fire. Units received the call at 11:59 PM. Initial fire attack crews found fire in the rear bedroom of the two story residence. First arriving units were able to keep the fire contained to the original area of origin. The fire was extinguished shortly after arrival and crews marked the situation under control at 12:27 AM. There was minor fire and smoke damage done to the residence. Four engine companies, two specialty service units, two fire medic units, and two battalion chiefs were assigned to the call for service.
Henrico County Fire Marshal’s office has determined the area of origin for this fire to be in a resident’s bedroom. The fire was also determined to have been intentionally set. A suspect was identified, arrested and charged with arson to an occupied dwelling. He was taken to Henrico WSU for processing with assistance from HPD.
The investigation remains an active. No other suspects or persons of interest are being sought.
