“Totally inexcusable.”

Those were the words of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice when asked about the recent allegations of domestic abuse that came of his then-fiancee in an altercation earlier this year.

Rice was speaking to media during the team’s training camp in Owings Mills, Maryland and said that he has not been involved in any other domestic violence incidents before.

The allegations stemmed from a February 15 incident where Rice was accused of striking Janay Parker.

The running back has been accepted into a diversion program, giving Rice the chance to possible have the charges against him dropped. Despite that, he has been suspended for two games by the National Football League and given a fine of over $500,000.

Rice said to media that he knows that his actions are “something I have to deal with for the rest of my life.”

He declined to go into the specifics of what happened between he and Parker on that February night.

With his suspension, the star running back will be out of the lineup for the team’s season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals and their second week match against Pittsburgh.

When discussing the Rice matter, an ESPN commentator made comments that some took as offensive, leading to “First Take” anchor Stephen A. Smith issuing a public apology Monday.

Smith was suspended for one week by officials from ESPN. He will return to the air on Wednesday.
