Chip Brierre

Chip Brierre joined 8Sports in June of 2014 as the weekend sports anchor/reporter.

Chip is homegrown here in Richmond, VA, growing up in the west end of Henrico County as well as a brief stint in Charles City, VA.  A graduate from Woodberry Forest High School in Orange, VA, Chip attended the University of Miami in Florida where he spent all four years learning and fine tuning his skills and passion for sports broadcasting. He graduated from Miami in 2014 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism while minoring in Sports Administration. While in Miami, he anchored and reported for SportsDesk, a sports show on the University’s student run television station UMTV; also doing play-by-play, color commentary and hosting talk shows on the student radio station WVUM. Chip also interned with WFOR-CBS4, 560 WQAM Sports Talk Radio and WPLG-ABC10, getting to cover major events such as the Nevin Shapiro Scandal for Miami Hurricanes Football, the Incognito-Martin bullying scandal at the Miami Dolphins, as well two straight NBA Finals for the Miami Heat.

Chip is blessed to be home covering the sports he grew up loving, and can’t wait to deliver great sports casting and incredible stories to the people he knows and loves in Richmond. When not covering sports for 8News, Chip spends time with his family and friends, enjoys reading,  is an avid moviegoer and critic, plays basketball and likes playing video games.

To check out Chip, watch him on Friday and Saturdays at 6 and 11pm. He also reports from Tuesday to Thursday. Like him on Facebook and follow him on Twitter!
