Sheriff Roger L. Harris announced the arrest of two suspects in the May 18, 2014 murder of Nancy Mercer. Arrested were Christina Brown, 25 and Alaina Mercer, 25; both of King George County. Mercer is the daughter of the victim.
As a result of the evidence collected and the investigative work that followed, the suspects were developed and Detectives applied for and received arrest warrants for the couple late yesterday evening. The warrants charged both women with Felony Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
At approximately 9:00pm, yesterday, Detectives, along with Deputies from the King George County Sheriff’s Office went to the residence, in the 10300 block of Vintage Way in King George County, where both were living together. The suspects were made aware by persons in the area that law enforcement was coming into the complex. Upon hearing this, both suspects attempted to flee the area, however were located in a nearby residence and taken into custody without further incident. The suspects were then transported to the Magistrate, where they were ordered held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
