UPDATE: Tornado Watch Canceled For Most of Central Virginia

The ABC 8News StormTracker weather team has been monitoring a weather system all day Wednesday, which brought rain showers tornadoes, damaging winds, hail and flooding to Central Virginia. Although severe weather may still impact the area tonight., a tornado watch for much of the area was canceled.

FULL LIST OF ACTIVE WATCHES AND WARNINGS

The National Weather Service has issued watches and warnings for much of the greater ABC 8News viewing area. Charlotte and Halifax counties are under a Flash Flood Warning, while Culpeper County is under a Flood Watch.

The following counties are under a Flash Flood Watch: Albemarle, Amelia, Amherst, Appomattox, Augusta, Brunswick, Buckingham, Campbell, Caroline, Charles City, Charlotte, Chesterfield, Culpeper, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Greensville, Halifax, Hanover, Henrico, King George, King William, Louisa, Lunenburg, Madison, Mecklenburg, Nelson, New Kent, Nottoway, Orange, Powhatan, Prince Edward, Prince George, Richmond, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Sussex.

Wednesday was warm and muggy, with highs approaching 80 degrees. Rain and thunderstorms will continue into the evening, but the severe weather threat should diminish after 8 p.m. We will still be dealing with this system through early Thursday morning, so rain showers and thunderstorms are still possible. Some sunshine will break out Thursday afternoon, and high temperatures will climb to near 80 degrees.

The weather will be much nicer Friday through the weekend, with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower to middle 70s.
